Dietary Therapies for Rheumatic Heart Disease: A Natural Approach to Manage Symptoms

Rheumatic heart disease, commonly known as rheumatic heart disease, often has no obvious symptoms in the early stages of the disease, and later manifests as symptoms of heart failure such as palpitations, shortness of breath, fatigue, cough, leg swelling, and pink frothy sputum. [Dietary Therapy One]

Ingredients: 50g Polygonatum, 100g pig heart.

Method: Wash the Polygonatum and cut it into sections, moisten it with water, boil it twice, and collect about 1,500 ml of the decoction. Split the pig heart, wash it, and put it in a pot with the decoction, spring onion, and Sichuan pepper. Cook until done, remove the foam, add an appropriate amount of brine, salt, sugar, monosodium glutamate, and sesame oil. Heat until it becomes a thick sauce, evenly spread it on the inside and outside of the pig heart. Take it with meals twice a day.

Efficacy: It is used to treat rheumatic heart disease with insufficient Yin and blood and arrhythmia.

[Dietary Therapy Two]

Ingredients: 200g dried mulberries, 500g white sugar.

Method: Put the white sugar in a sand pot, add a little water, simmer over low heat until thickened, add crushed dried mulberries, mix well, and continue to simmer until it can be scooped up with a shovel without sticking to the hand. Pour the sugar onto a large enamel plate coated with cooking oil, let it cool slightly, and cut the sugar into small pieces. Eat as needed.

Efficacy: It is used to treat rheumatic heart disease with liver and kidney Yin deficiency, palpitations, dizziness, blurred vision, and constipation.


[Dietary Therapy Three]

Ingredients: 5-10g plum blossom, 50-100g polished rice.

Method: Wash the polished rice, add water to cook porridge, when the porridge is half cooked, add plum blossom and a little sugar to cook into porridge. Take it for breakfast once a day for 7 days.

Efficacy: It is used to treat rheumatic heart disease with liver stagnation and qi stagnation, chest tightness and pain, palpitations, and shortness of breath.

[Dietary Therapy Four]

Ingredients: 25g Curcuma, 1 pig heart.

Method: Wash the Curcuma and slice it, cook it with the pig heart in an appropriate amount of water, and season it with a little condiments. Eat the meat and drink the soup once a day for several days.

Efficacy: It is used to treat rheumatic heart disease with deficiency of qi and blood, blood stasis, chest tightness, chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, and restless sleep.

[Dietary Therapy Five]

Ingredients: 50g Polygonatum, 100g polished rice.

Method: Soak the Polygonatum in water, remove and chop it. Wash the polished rice, put it in a pot with the Polygonatum, add water, and boil it over high heat. Simmer over low heat until it becomes porridge. Eat it for breakfast.

Efficacy: It is used to treat rheumatic heart disease with deficiency of Yin essence, palpitations, shortness of breath, and weakness.
