Chuan Fang Feng, also known as bamboo joint windproof, Mao Qian Hu, or Xi Feng, is the root of the dicotyledonous plant short-split straw of the family Umbelliferae. Chuan Fang Feng is light in weight, hard and brittle in texture, with a pale yellowish-white cross section, non-fleshy, and mostly fibrous. It has a slight scent and a spicy taste. The dried root without fine tail whiskers is preferred. This product is used as a windproof agent in Sichuan.
[Application of Chuan Fang Feng]
1. Windproof can be used to treat tetanus, with the function of dispelling wind and stopping spasms, but it is often used in conjunction with Tian Nan Xing, Tian Ma, Bai Fu Zi, and other medicines.
2. Windproof is mainly used to dispel wind and resolve the exterior, it can dispel wind-cold and dissipate wind-heat, and its function is similar to Jing Jie. Therefore, these two medicines are often used together.
3. Windproof can dispel wind and dampness and relieve pain, and it is often used in combination with Qiang Huo, Fang Ji, and other medicines to treat wind-dampness and pain symptoms.
4. Windproof has the functions of stopping bleeding and stopping diarrhea. When used for abdominal pain and diarrhea, it is often used in combination with Bai Shao, Bai Zhu, Chen Pi, and other medicines. When used for hemorrhage and excessive menstruation, it is generally stir-fried and used.
[Contraindications of Chuan Fang Feng]
1. It is not suitable for people with deficiency of yin and blood and wind syndrome caused by heat diseases.
2. It is not suitable for people with blood deficiency and spasms or headaches not caused by wind pathogens.
3. Chuan Fang Feng is incompatible with dried ginger, Li Lu, Bai Lian, and Yuan Hua.
4. It is prohibited for people with deficiency of original qi and diseases not caused by wind and dampness to use Chuan Fang Feng.
