Suigu Zi

When a water extract of this herb was administered orally to rats with fever induced by yeast suspension injection, it showed antipyretic effects. The active antipyretic components are soluble in water and dilute hydrochloric acid, but not easily soluble in alcohol and ether.

The antipyretic effect of 2g/kg of fresh bamboo leaf extract on fever caused by Escherichia coli in cats and rabbits is approximately 0.83 times that of 33mg/kg of naphazoline.

2. Diuretic Effect

When 10g of this herb was decocted and taken orally by healthy individuals, it showed weak diuretic effects but increased the excretion of chloride in the urine.

Its diuretic effect is weaker than that of Mutong and Zhuling, but it has a stronger effect on increasing the excretion of chloride in the urine compared to Zhuling.

3. Other Effects

In vitro tests of water decoction of this herb showed inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.

The inhibition rate of crude extract of this herb at a concentration of 100g (raw herb)/kg on Sarcoma S-180 is 43.1-45.6%, but it has no inhibitory effect on cervical cancer-14 and lymphosarcoma-1 ascitic type. This herb also has the effect of increasing blood sugar levels.

Contraindications for Suigu Zi Consumption

1. Not suitable for pregnant women.

2. Suigu Zi has a cooling nature, so it is not suitable for pregnant women with a weak constitution.

3. Those without excess fire or damp heat should consume it with caution, and those with a weak constitution and cold should avoid consumption.
