Source: Chishang San (Polygonum runcinatum Buch.-Ham. var. sinense Hemsl) of the Polygonaceae family, is used medicinally with its roots and whole plant. It is harvested in summer and autumn, washed and sliced, and used fresh or dried.

Functions and Indications of the Chinese Herb Chishang San
Chishang San
Chishang San clears heat and detoxifies; activates blood circulation and relaxes tendons. It is used for dysentery, diarrhea, abnormal vaginal discharge, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, breast abscess, boils, unknown swellings and toxins, snakebites, bruises, and lumbar strain.
1. Treating dysentery:
Take 1-2 liang of Yarrow with Missing Waist and decoct in water for oral administration.
2. Treating abdominal pain:
Take 5 qian of Yarrow with Missing Waist and 1 qian of Wood Incense, decoct in water for oral administration.
3. Treating abnormal vaginal discharge:
Take 6 qian of Yarrow with Missing Waist, 3 qian of Pine Wood Pulp, and 3 qian of Sandalwood Pulp, decoct in water for oral administration. For white discharge, add white sugar; for red discharge, add red sugar, rose flowers, and donkey-hide gelatin.
4. Treating abscesses:
Take crushed Yarrow with Missing Waist and apply as a poultice.
5. Treating bruises:

6. Treating mastitis:
