Zhang Gong Yu, a traditional Chinese medicine. It is the flesh of the fish called yueli, which belongs to the family Lethrinidae. The yueli fish is widely distributed in the southern regions of China, especially along the Yangtze River. It has the effect of nourishing yin, replenishing deficiency, and strengthening tendons and bones. It is commonly used to treat liver and kidney deficiency, lumbago and weakness of the limbs.

  Zhang Gong Yu has a slightly cylindrical body shape, with a slightly flattened back and a total length of about 30cm. The head is slightly pointed, with relatively large scales and a large mouth. The lower jaw protrudes slightly and has large teeth. It has 59-62 lateral line scales.

  The dorsal fin and anal fin are long, with 47 dorsal fin rays, 14 pectoral fin rays, and 29 anal fin rays. There are no pelvic fins. The caudal fin is elliptical in shape. There are 11 V-shaped black stripes on the sides of the body. There is a large black spot at the base of the tail fin and above the pectoral fin. On each side, there are two black stripes from the gill cover to the back of the eye.
