Liangfu Pill, a traditional Chinese medicine prescription, is derived from the book "Liang Fang Ji Ye". It has the effects of promoting Qi circulation, regulating the Liver, dispelling cold, and relieving pain. It is used to treat Qi stagnation and cold congealing syndrome. The symptoms include stomach pain, chest and rib distention, aversion to cold and preference for warmth, white tongue coating, and wiry pulse, as well as dysmenorrhea in women.
 


 

【Dosage and Administration】

It is commonly used as a decoction, taken orally.

【Clinical Applications】

1. This prescription is a representative formula for treating stomach pain caused by Qi stagnation and cold congealing. It can be used with modifications to treat patients with main symptoms of stomach pain, chest and rib distention, white tongue coating, etc.

2. Modifications: If the condition is mainly Qi stagnation, with severe chest and rib distention, aromatic herbs like Xiang Fu can be used in larger amounts, or add herbs like Chuan Lian Zi, Yu Jin, and Mu Xiang to promote Qi circulation and relieve pain. If the condition is mainly cold congealing, due to exposure to cold or consumption of cold food, with severe stomach pain and a preference for warmth, strong herbs like Gao Liang Jiang can be used in larger amounts, or add herbs like Gan Jiang, Wu Zhu Yu, and Gui Zhi to enhance the warming and dispelling cold effects. For dysmenorrhea caused by Qi stagnation and cold congealing, add herbs like Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, and Bai Shao to invigorate blood circulation, regulate menstruation, and relieve pain.

3. This prescription is commonly used in modern times to treat chronic gastritis, peptic ulcers, and dysmenorrhea in women, which belong to the category of Qi stagnation and cold congealing.

【Precautions】

Although pregnant women may experience stomach pain caused by Qi stagnation and cold congealing, the use of this prescription should be cautious to prevent the dispersion of Qi and cold, which may harm the fetus. There have been reports of miscarriage caused by the use of modified versions of this prescription for the treatment of stomach pain.
