1. Wuzhuafeng Buddha Hand Lean Meat Soup

Ingredients: 250g lean pork, 60g Wuzhuafeng, 10g Buddha Hand, salt, and water as needed.

Method:

(1) Cut the Wuzhuafeng into pieces; wash the Buddha Hand; wash the lean pork and cut into pieces.

(2) Put all the ingredients into the pot; add an appropriate amount of water. Boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat for 1-2 hours. Season with salt.

2. Wuzhuafeng Pig Trotter Soup

Ingredients: 1 pig trotter, 100g Wuzhuafeng, 5 red dates.

Method:

(1) Wash the Wuzhuafeng and red dates; remove the hair and nails from the pig trotter, wash it, and cut into pieces. Boil in boiling water for ten minutes, then remove and rinse with clean water.

(2) Put all the ingredients into the pot, add an appropriate amount of water. Boil over high heat, then simmer for 2-3 hours. Season to taste.

Using Wuzhuafeng and other herbs to treat tetanus

Function and indication: Detoxification, dispel wind, relieve spasm. Used to treat tetanus.

Composition: 30g Wuzhuafeng, 20g Yu Zhu Cao (also known as Shao Zi Cao), 20g Che Qian Cao, 10g Wu Gong.

Usage and dosage: Take 1 dose daily, decoct with water and drink frequently.

Case study:

Mr. Zeng, male, 21 years old, farmer. The patient accidentally injured his left ankle while chopping firewood a few days ago. The wound was about 2 inches long and bleeding did not stop. He went to the village health center to have it stitched and treated. On August 9th, the patient felt discomfort in his face, nausea, and vomiting. On the morning of the 10th, the condition worsened, and he had seizures in all four limbs, so he was sent to the hospital for treatment. The patient was unconscious, with a grimace on his face, intermittent stiff neck and limb twitching. The wound was slightly swollen, and his tongue was red with a white-yellow coating. The pulse was string-like and frequent. The diagnosis was tetanus.

Treatment was carried out using the above formula. The local wound was cleaned and treated with San Huang Soft Ointment. After taking three doses of the medicine, there was no significant change in the patient's condition, and the twitching continued. He was instructed to take three more doses. The patient's consciousness became clear, the frequency of seizures decreased, and his tongue and pulse remained the same. The original formula was continued, and three more doses were given. After taking the medicine, the patient became clear-headed, spoke normally, and the symptoms of seizures and stiff neck disappeared. After that, Si Wu Tang plus Sang Zhi, Di Gu Pi, and Ju Hua were used for one week to regulate the condition, and the patient recovered and was discharged from the hospital.
