  Flowering Period of Toncao

Flowering period: The male flowers bloom for 65-70 days, while the female flowers bloom for 50-55 days.

During this period, the growth of the plant's crown (horizontal growth) is the main focus. From July 31st to September 30th, the growth rate of the crown is 5.5-5.8 times that of the plant's height.

At the same time, the stems and branches thicken and lengthen rapidly, and the flowers mature faster.

The formation pattern of the flowers is from top to bottom, from the outside to the inside, gradually forming layer by layer. On sunny days, a new layer is formed every two to three days.

As for rainy days, the male flowers have a tendency to bloom every other day.

The flowering time is from 6-10 AM, and pollination occurs from 7-11 AM. After 11 AM, the flowers close.

If there is cloudy or rainy weather, the flowers will not bloom. After the weather clears up, the flowers can bloom continuously for 2-3 days before resuming the pattern of blooming every other day.

Each male flower cluster only has 2-5 small flowers blooming at a time, and this happens 2-4 times.

The main reason why the male flowers do not bloom on rainy days is because of the high humidity in the air. Therefore, spraying water on the male flowers in the early morning of sunny days or soaking them in water can completely suppress the release of pollen on that day.

The interval between each blooming period lengthens, but after the weather clears up, the interval shortens by one or two days and the number of layers increases by 2, accelerating the formation of flowers.

  Symptoms of Toncao Allergies

One of the dangers of Toncao is that its pollen can cause allergies. Toncao allergy is also the main cause of hay fever.
