February 18, 2024

Blood-filled grass is the whole herb and root of the honeysuckle family plant, Red Mountain Flower. Although it has a strong smell, it has a slight sweet taste when taken orally. It has the effect of dispelling wind and promoting blood circulation. Let's take a look at the usage of blood-filled grass!

What is blood-filled grass?

Blood-filled grass, also known as bone-healing medicine, big blood grass, bone-healing grass, blood vessel grass. It belongs to the honeysuckle family of the honeysuckle genus and is a perennial upright herb or subshrub, 1-1.5 meters tall.

The rhizomes are horizontally spread, cylindrical in shape, with brown outer skin. When broken, they release red liquid, hence the name "blood-filled grass". The stem has longitudinal grooves and obvious nodes, and is covered with hair.

The compound leaves are pinnate with odd numbers of leaflets; the leaflets are stalkless, elongated oval to narrow elongated oval in shape, gradually pointed at the apex, inclined at the base, often downward extended, with fine serrations on the edges, and covered with soft hairs or hairless.

The flowers are small, white, arranged in large umbel-shaped inflorescences, with 5 sepals, petals, and stamens, and no yellow cup-shaped glands between the flowers. The bracts are very small or absent.

The berries are small, spherical, red, with a relatively smooth surface and only slight wrinkles. The flowering period is from May to July, and the fruit ripens in September to October.
