Methods of Cultivating Diding Grass

1. Diding grass is propagated by seeds. About 3 to 4 kilograms of seeds are required per mu. It is usually intercropped with grasses of the Poaceae family. After the corn and other Poaceae plants are ridge-sealed in Xiaoshu, shallow hoe the ground between the rows, evenly scatter the seeds, use a large hoe to push them, bury the seeds firmly, and water them. Keep the surface of the bed moist, and the seedlings will emerge in about 30 days.

2. After the Diding seedlings emerge, they should be watered and managed intensively. When the autumn crops are mature and harvested, be careful not to bury the Diding seedlings. Before freezing, water with freezing water and apply circle fertilizer. After the thaw in the next spring, crush the manure blocks and level the ground. From Qingming to Guyu when the new leaves have not covered the ground, apply 10-15 kilograms of urea per mu, and water after application. Stop watering after Lixia to prevent stem and leaf rot and reduce yield.

3. Around the Jingzhe period, when the Diding grass seedlings return to green, there is often a black caterpillar of the Lepidoptera order that bites the tender buds, causing significant damage. It can be sprayed and killed with Bacillus thuringiensis (No. 3 wax moth) at a dilution of 500-1000 times, or 2500 grams of bacterium powder can be mixed with 15-25 kilograms of fine soil per mu and spread in the field for poisoning.
