【Effects and Functions of Wuxiang Vine】
Wuxiang Vine has the effects of clearing heat and detoxification, promoting blood circulation and relieving pain, and reducing swelling. It is mainly used for treating influenza, snake bites, rabies, rheumatism, numbness, bruises, irregular menstruation, abscesses, and ulcers.
1. "Yunnan Traditional Chinese Medicine": The root can clear heat and detoxify, reduce swelling and relieve pain. It can prevent meningitis, influenza, and treat snake bites, unidentified swelling and toxicosis, external bleeding, and fractures.
2. "Selected Yunnan Traditional Chinese Medicine": The root and stem can promote blood circulation and relieve pain, and reduce swelling; the leaves can stop bleeding and disperse stasis.
【Morphology of Wuxiang Vine】
It is an evergreen climbing shrub. The main root is stout and cylindrical. The leaves are alternate, subleathery, ovate-lanceolate to elliptic, 5-15 centimeters long, gradually pointed at the apex, rounded at the base, with almost entire margins or sparse fine serrations.
The flowers are unisexual, axillary, 1-2 in number, with bracts narrow triangular, about 1 millimeter long and wide; the outermost 3-5 perianth segments are small, triangular to nearly kidney-shaped, with margin hairs, and the inner 5 segments are purple-red, elliptic to ovate; the stamens are nearly spherical.
The fruits are berries, becoming bright red when ripe. Flowering period is in summer.
【Compound of Wuxiang Vine】
① For treating snake bites, rabies, and ulcers: Apply an appropriate amount of Wuxiang Vine leaves and apply them externally.
② For treating rheumatism, numbness, bruises, stomach pain, irregular menstruation, and vasculitis: Take 4-6 qian (about 12-18 grams) of Wuxiang Vine root and stem. Decoct and take orally, or soak in alcohol as a prescription.
