Original form: The Alocasia macrorrhiza is a perennial herb that can grow up to 5m tall. The stem is thick and can reach 30cm in diameter. The leaves are alternate; petioles are thick, measuring 60-90cm in length, with the lower part being large and embracing the stem; leaf blades are broadly ovate, measuring 30-90cm in length and 20-60cm in width, with a short pointed tip, and a wide heart-shaped arrowhead base, with 9-12 pairs of coarse and distinct lateral veins, and green in color. It has unisexual flowers on the same plant; inflorescence stalks are thick, measuring 15-20cm in length; the spathe tube is 3-4cm long, pale green in color, boat-shaped, measuring 10-14cm in length and 4-5cm in width, with a sharp pointed tip, and greenish-yellow in color; the spadix is shorter than the spathe; the female inflorescence is 2-2.5cm long, located in the lower part; the neutral inflorescence is 2.5-3.5cm long, located above the female inflorescence; the male inflorescence is 3cm long, located above the neutral inflorescence; the accessory organ is about 3cm long, with a reticulate groove; the ovary has 3-4 chambers. The fruit is red. There are 1-2 seeds. It flowers from spring to autumn.
