The Healing Power of Liu Jinu: Traditional Chinese Medicine for Pain Relief and Digestion

Liu Jinu is a traditional Chinese medicine that can promote blood circulation, relieve pain, and aid in digestion. It can be used to treat symptoms such as toothache, chronic bronchitis, and pharyngitis. Below are some recommended applications of Liu Jinu prescriptions.


Prescription 1

Ingredients: 75g of Liu Jinu, 60g of red peony (cut and stir-fried), 30g of white poria (peeled), 45g each of chuanxiong and danggui (cut and baked), and 120g of mugwort leaves (stir-fried).

Instructions: Grind the above ingredients into coarse powder. Take 6g of the powder with 150ml of water, boil it down to 100ml, remove the residue, and take it on an empty stomach twice a day.

Effect: Treats excessive menstrual bleeding in women.

Prescription 2

Ingredients: 1 liang of Liu Jinu, 1 liang of zhimu (baked), 2 liang of danggui (cut and baked), 2 liang of guijianyu, and 1.5 liang of taoren (peeled and stir-fried).

Instructions: Grind the above ingredients into coarse powder. Take 4 qian (about 12g) of the powder with 1.5 cups of water, boil it down to 8 fen (about 2ml), remove the residue, and take it on an empty stomach before meals.

Effect: Treats postpartum lochia retention, abdominal pain, fever with aversion to cold, dry throat, and thirst.


Prescription 3

Ingredients: Equal parts of Liu Jinu and wubeizi.

Instructions: Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Take it with empty stomach and drink water. Apply the powder to the affected area in case of hemorrhoids.

Effect: Treats hemorrhoids.

Prescription 4

Ingredients: 2 liang of Liu Jinu, 3 liang of jiegen (stir-fried), 2 liang of danggui (cut and baked), 1 liang of fresh ginger (cut and baked), 2 liang of cinnamon (peeled), 1.5 liang of chenju peel (boiled and peeled), 3 liang of red peony (cut), and 3 liang of red poria (peeled).

Instructions: Grind the above ingredients into coarse powder. Take 3 qian (about 9g) of the powder with 1.5 cups of water, boil it down to 8 fen (about 2ml), remove the residue, add half qian (about 1.5g) of yanhusuo powder, stir well, and take it warm three times a day.

Effect: Treats postpartum lochia retention, abdominal pain after 7-8 days, distention in the sides, and headache in children.
