(2) It inhabits grasslands and meadows at an altitude of 2500-3500m. It prefers humid environments and lives in caves. The presence of mounds at the cave entrance indicates the presence of pika. It feeds on plants.
(3) It inhabits the edge areas where geothermal fluctuations intersect with grasslands and deserts. It lives in groups and builds caves on high ground or slopes, with mounds outside the cave entrance. Its diet consists of grass roots and seeds.
(4) It represents one of the species in the subalpine meadow zone. It inhabits alpine meadows and areas with dense grass. It lives in caves and also prefers to live in groups. There are yellow pika mounds near the cave entrance. Its main diet includes plants from the sedge family and the grass family.

(1) It is distributed in Gansu, Qinghai, Sichuan, Yunnan, Tibet, and other regions.
(2) It is only found in northern Xinjiang.
