In ancient times, Dangshen produced in Shangdang area of Shanxi province was considered the best, with the functions of tonifying the middle and benefiting the qi, invigorating the spleen and benefiting the lungs. Now let's take a look at the distribution of Dangshen production areas!

Distribution of Dangshen Production Areas

Dangshen is mainly produced in southeastern Tibet, western Sichuan, northwest Yunnan, eastern and southern Gansu, southern Shaanxi, Guizhou, Ningxia, eastern Qinghai, Henan, Shandong, Shanxi, Hebei, Inner Mongolia and Northeast China. It can also be found in North Korea, Mongolia, and the Russian Far East. There is a large amount of cultivation throughout the country.

Environmental Requirements for Dangshen Production Areas

Dangshen prefers a mild and cool climate, is cold-resistant, and its roots can survive in the soil during winter. Seedlings prefer moist and shaded conditions and are afraid of strong light. Lack of water after sowing makes it difficult for the seedlings to emerge, and lack of water after emergence can cause mass death. High temperatures can cause root rot. Mature plants prefer abundant sunlight and are suitable for cultivation in sandy loam soil with deep soil, good drainage, loose texture, and rich humus content.
