  Chinese medicinal herb Xuelianhua, named after its shape resembling a lotus flower, is also known as Xuelian.   1. Xuelianhua with Pigeon Soup

  Ingredients: 10g Xuelianhua, 10g wolfberry, 10g Cistanche, 150g Chinese yam, 1 pigeon, scallion, ginger, cooking wine, salt to taste.

  Method: (1) Heat oil in a pot, stir-fry the Chinese yam until golden yellow, remove from the pot and set aside;

  (2) Cut the pigeon into small pieces, soak the Cistanche in hot water until softened, then cut into slices;

  (3) Put the pigeon, Cistanche, wolfberry, and Chinese yam in a clay pot, add water, cooking wine, scallion, and salt, simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes, then it is ready to be eaten.

  Method: Fill a clay pot with water up to two-thirds full, bring to a boil over high heat, add the soft-shelled turtle, Xuelianhua, saffron, scallion, and ginger, simmer over low heat until the turtle shell becomes tender, then add a little salt and MSG.
