Blood-filling herb is a perennial erect herb, 1-2 meters high. The roots are slender, cylindrical, and horizontally grown, with numerous fibrous roots. The stems are round, with longitudinal grooves, obvious nodes, and covered with coarse hairs. When broken, they exude red juice.

Leaves are opposite; pinnately compound with raised paired glands; leaflets are 3-11, 8-16 cm long, 4-7 cm wide, with one larger at the top, ovate, and the lateral leaflets are lanceolate to ovate.

The apex is gradually pointed, with fine serrations on the edges, and the base is flat or broad-wedge-shaped. Both sides of the lateral leaflets are asymmetrical, sparsely hairy, and the lower side is lighter in color. The lateral veins are feather-like.

The top leaflet is often connected to the lower two pairs of leaflets; the leaf stalk often has small leaf-like stipules at the base.

The inflorescence is cone-shaped umbel; the flowers are small, dense, and white, with yellow cup-shaped glands interspersed. The fruit is berry-like, black. It grows in open fields and damp forests. Distributed in Yunnan, Tibet, and other places.

1. Treatment of acute and chronic nephritis: 50 grams of blood-filling herb, 30 grams of wine bottle flower roots, 12 grams of mountain skin strips, and 12 grams of stone pepper herb. Decoct and take orally.
