The Versatile Uses of Diyu: A Traditional Chinese Medicine for Treating Various Bleeding Symptoms

Diyu is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine for stopping bleeding. It is made from the root of the plant and can treat various bleeding symptoms. It has many clinical applications and can be used to treat conditions such as rectal bleeding, urinary bleeding, and wounds. Let's learn about the usage of Diyu!


 

1. Treatment for rectal bleeding: Take four liang of Diyu and three liang of roasted licorice. Take five qian of the mixture with two cups of water. Add one qian of powdered sandalwood and simmer until half a cup remains. Divide into two doses and take.

2. Treatment for uncontrolled bloody diarrhea: Take two liang of Diyu and half a liang of licorice (roasted and ground). Grind the two ingredients together. Take five qian of the mixture with one cup of water. Simmer until seven parts remain, remove the residue, and take the warm decoction. Take twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.

3. Treatment for eczema: Take fifteen liang of powdered Diyu and thirty liang of Mithridate. Grind them together and add thirty to forty liang of vaseline to make an ointment for external application.

4. Treatment for dog bites: Take powdered Diyu root, one fen in size, and take it once or twice a day. It can also be applied directly to the wound for better effect.

5. Treatment for snake bites: Grind the Diyu root into a paste and extract the juice. Drink the juice and apply it to the wound.

6. Treatment for burns and scalds: Char the Diyu root and grind it into powder. Mix the powder with sesame oil to make a 50% ointment. Apply it to the wound several times a day.
