About Rubus multibracteatus

Alias: Dahonghuangpao, Upao.

Source: The root and whole plant of Rubus multibracteatus, a plant in the genus Rubus of the Rosaceae family. It can be harvested throughout the year and dried.

Medicinal part: The root of Rubus multibracteatus.

Taste and meridian tropism: Bitter, cold; enters the spleen and liver meridians.

Main functions and indications: Clears heat, promotes diuresis, stops bleeding, and promotes bone healing. It is used for the treatment of fever, enteritis, dysentery, hemoptysis, epistaxis, and rheumatic bone pain.

Dosage: 0.5-1 liang. For external use, use an appropriate amount and apply the mashed herb to the affected area.

Applications of Rubus multibracteatus

1. Treatment of dysentery

Take 3 liang of fresh Rubus multibracteatus root bark, 2 liang of fresh Lysimachia christinae root, and 1 liang of fresh Hedyotis diffusa root.

Decoction and take orally, 3-4 times a day, 2 small wine cups each time.

2. Treatment of cough with blood and limb weakness

Take 2 liang of fresh Rubus multibracteatus, 1 liang of fresh Xanthium sibiricum, and 5 qian of sunflower stem core.

Boil with water to make a concentrated decoction, take it 4 times a day, 1 teacup each time.

3. Treatment of irregular menstruation

Take 1 liang of Rubus multibracteatus root, 1 liang of Actinidia arguta root, 5 qian of Imperata cylindrica root, and 5 qian of Lonicera japonica vine.

Decoction with water and mix with brown sugar, take 3 times a day.

4. Treatment of non-displaced fractures

Take an equal amount of Rubus multibracteatus root, Vitis amurensis root bark, and Centella asiatica.

Mash them together, fry with alcohol until hot, first use manual reduction to reset the fracture, then apply the herb, and finally apply a splint. Change it once a day. The dosage depends on the affected area. (Recipe from "Guizhou Herbal Medicine")
