  [When can you take Da Wu Pao?]

  Da Wu Pao is a shrub that grows to a height of 2-3m. The stem is thick and covered with yellow hairs and short curved thorns. The leaves are alternate, with leaf stalks measuring 3-6cm long and covered with yellow soft hairs;

  The fruits are aggregated and spherical, reaching a diameter of 1.5cm. They are red in color and resemble small fleshy drupes. The flowering period is from April to June, and the fruiting period is from August to September.

  When the fruits are red, they are not yet ripe and taste sour and astringent. When the fruits turn black, they are ripe and can be eaten directly, with a sweet and delicious taste.

  [Medicinal value of Da Wu Pao]

  It has the functions of clearing heat and detoxifying, dispelling wind and dampness, cooling blood, stopping bleeding, and promoting bone healing. It is used to treat dysentery, diarrhea, rheumatism, coughing up blood, irregular menstruation in women, and fractures.

  1. Treatment of dysentery

  Take 3 liang of fresh Da Wu Pao root bark, 2 liang of fresh Long Ya Cao root, and 1 liang of fresh Bai Jin Tiao root. Boil them in water and take the decoction, 3-4 times a day, with two small wine cups each time.

  2. Treatment of coughing with blood and weakness in limbs

  Take 2 liang of fresh Da Wu Pao, 1 liang of fresh Ku Ci Tou, and 5 qian of Kuihua Ganxin. Boil them in water to make a concentrated solution. Take it four times a day, with one teacup each time.

  3. Treatment of irregular menstruation

  Take 1 liang of Da Wu Pao root, 1 liang of Dao Chu San root, 5 qian of Maocao root, and 5 qian of Jin Yin Hua. Boil them in water and add red sugar. Take it three times a day.

  4. Treatment of fractures (unbroken skin)

  Take an equal amount of Da Wu Pao root, wild grape root bark, and Bai Wei Shen. Grind them into a paste, stir-fry with alcohol until hot, first reset the fracture with manipulation, then apply the medicine and wrap it with a splint. Change it once a day.
