The Healing Power of Liu Jinu: A Natural Remedy for Wounds, Bleeding, and Digestive Issues

Liu Jinu is the whole plant of the Asteraceae plant Qihao. It is mainly produced in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi and other places. It has the effects of healing wounds and stopping bleeding, promoting blood circulation and regulating menstruation, promoting digestion and eliminating accumulation, and invigorating the spleen and appetite. It can be used for acute jaundice hepatitis, toothache, chronic bronchitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis and other diseases.
 


 

1. Liu Jinu for treating hematuria: grind Liu Jinu into powder, mix it with tea, and take 4 grams on an empty stomach. (From "Bin Hu Ji Jian Fang")

2. Liu Jinu for treating dysentery: take Liu Jinu, Ume, and white ginger in equal amounts. Boil them in water and take it. Add Ume for treating red dysentery, and add ginger for treating white dysentery. (From "Ru Yi Fang")

6. Liu Jinu for treating postpartum lochia not discharged, abdominal pain, strong heat and aversion to cold, dry throat, irritability, and thirst: take Liu Jinu and Zhimu (fried) in equal amounts, Angelica sinensis (chopped, fried), and Xanthium sibiricum in equal amounts, and half the amount of peach kernel (peeled, pointed, fried). Coarsely crush the five ingredients and filter. 7. Liu Jinu for treating various postpartum blood disorders: take Liu Jinu and licorice in equal amounts, grind them into coarse powder. Take 15 grams each time, first boil them with 400 ml of water until there is 200 ml left, then add 200 ml of alcohol, boil it again until there is 100 ml left, remove the residue, and take it while warm. 9. Liu Jinu for treating bloating caused by blood and qi: grind the mature Liu Jinu into powder. Take 9 grams each time, boil it with wine and take it. (From "Wei Sheng Yi Jian Fang")

10. Liu Jinu for treating scalds caused by hot water: grind Liu Jinu into powder, first apply glutinous rice paste, use a chicken feather to brush the affected area, then apply the powdered medicine on top.
