Take one or two fresh purple pearl leaves. Wash them and add two bowls of water. Boil until one bowl remains and drink, or boil and make tea for regular consumption. (From "Folk Medicinal Herbs of Southern Fujian")

1. Cooling blood and stopping bleeding

Purple pearl leaves have a bitter and cold nature. They enter the liver meridian and have the effect of cooling blood and contracting to stop bleeding. They are suitable for bleeding diseases caused by heat entering the blood, such as nosebleeds, coughing up blood, vomiting blood, bloody stools, and irregular bleeding. They can also be used for external bleeding. They can be used alone or in combination with other hemostatic drugs.

For nosebleeds, they can be used with thistles and white atractylodes; for treating blood in urine and blood stranguria, they can be used with small thistles and white cogongrass roots; for treating bloody stools and hemorrhoids, they can be used with Chinese burnet and pagoda tree flowers; for treating external bleeding, they can be applied crushed or in powder form, or soaked in purple pearl leaf solution and covered with gauze to compress the affected area.

2. Detoxification and reducing swelling

Purple pearl leaves have a bitter and cold nature. They enter the lung and stomach meridians and can clear heat, detoxify, disperse blood stasis, and reduce swelling. They are suitable for diseases such as infected ulcers, swelling and pain, and scalds caused by heat and toxins. The powdered leaves can be sprinkled on the affected area or the boiled solution can be used to soak gauze for external application. For treating infected ulcers, fresh leaves can be applied crushed and the juice can be taken orally. They can also be used in combination with other heat-clearing and detoxifying drugs.

【Using concentrated saltwater for repeated gargling to treat sore throat】

Although this method is external, it is quite effective and simple. Prepare a cup of water and add a suitable amount of table salt, then stir in boiling water. Let it cool for a while, and you can transfer it to a larger bowl to accelerate cooling.

Although it is a dilute saltwater solution, the concentration is higher than that of drinking water, so it may taste salty. There is no need to swallow it. Pay attention to the water temperature, and gargle when it is not too hot. When the water temperature is suitable, take a mouthful and gargle back and forth, then spit it out. Repeat with a new mouthful, and tilt your head back a few times to allow the saltwater to contact the throat.

If you can repeat the gargling every 10 minutes, 6-10 times a day, it would be great.
