Wugong: The Medicinal Powerhouse for Heat Relief and Pain Alleviation

Chinese herbal medicine Wugong, also known as Qizhi jue, Wugongcao, Shuiwugong, or Jiaqiye yizhihua, is the rhizome of the plant Qizhi jue in the family Dennstaedtiaceae. It is a perennial herb that can be harvested throughout the year. It grows in the vicinity of streams, ditches, or moist areas in forests. It has the functions of clearing heat and relieving fatigue, clearing heat and transforming phlegm, and removing blood stasis and alleviating pain!


【Habitat Distribution】

Wugong grows in moist and shaded forests. It is distributed in Longzhou, Nanning, Long'an, Mashan, and Wuzhou in Guangxi.

【Usage and Dosage】

Internal use: 6-9g, decocted in water and taken orally, or ground into powder, 1.8g each time.

【Clinical Applications】

1. Cough and asthma: 9g of Wugong, 3g of licorice, decocted in water and taken orally.

2. Bruises and internal injuries: Take an appropriate amount of Wugong, grind into powder, and take 2g each time, swallow with rice wine or water.

Soak Wugong in children's feces for forty-nine days, wash and dry, and grind into powder. Take six cents each time, swallow with wine or water. ("Guangxi Medicinal Plant Atlas")

3. Dysentery: Take 9g of fresh Wugong, 20g of fresh Portulaca oleracea, squeeze the juice and mix with saltwater for oral administration.
