Dietary Treatments for Acne: Natural Remedies for Clear Skin

Acne, commonly known as pimples or zits, is one of the most common skin conditions in dermatology. Almost everyone has experienced, is experiencing, or will experience the annoyance of acne. Having acne on the face not only affects appearance but also strikes a blow to one's confidence. To eliminate acne, diet therapy is a very good method. Here are some dietary treatments for acne.

Acne

1. Almond and Coix Seed Porridge

Ingredients: 9g sweet almonds, 9g seaweed, 9g kelp, 30g coix seed.

Instructions: First, cook the first three ingredients with an appropriate amount of water until they become soft. Then, add the coix seed to cook the porridge.

Effects: Coix seed has the effects of diuresis, reducing swelling, invigorating the spleen, eliminating dampness, relaxing tendons, and removing obstruction. It is commonly used as a diuretic. Almonds can moisturize the mouth, relieve thirst, nourish the lungs, relieve asthma, lubricate the intestines, promote bowel movements, and reduce the risk of colon cancer. They can also promote microcirculation of the skin, making the skin rosy and radiant.

2. Black Bean and Perilla Seed Porridge

Ingredients: 100g black beans, 30g motherwort, 10g peach kernel, 15g perilla seed, 100g japonica rice, and an appropriate amount of brown sugar.

Instructions: Cook the perilla seed, peach kernel, and motherwort with water for 30 minutes. Take 500ml of the decoction, then cook the black beans and japonica rice with the decoction and an appropriate amount of water until the black beans are soft. Add brown sugar and it is ready to eat.

Effects: This porridge is mainly used to treat blood stasis type acne, which is characterized by purple rashes with nodules or cysts. The tongue is dark red or has petechiae, and the pulse is stringy and astringent.

3. Stir-Fried Lotus Root, Chestnut, and Lettuce

Ingredients: 50g ham, 100g fresh lotus root, 100g fresh lettuce, 100g fresh chestnut.

Instructions: Stir-fry the ham and chestnut until half-cooked, then add the sliced lotus root. Stir-fry until almost cooked, then add the lettuce. Add seasoning and stir-fry until cooked. Serve as a side dish.

Effects: It clears heat, benefits qi, and resolves stasis.

4. Rabbit Meat and Lotus Root Slices

Ingredients: 150g rabbit meat (sliced), 200g fresh lotus root (sliced), 6g safflower, appropriate amount of seasoning, 30g sesame oil.

Instructions: First, heat the sesame oil, pour it over the safflower, and let it cool. Remove the safflower and keep the oil. Heat the oil and stir-fry the rabbit meat until half-cooked, then add the lotus root slices and stir-fry. Add seasoning and it is ready to eat.

Effects: It clears heat, cools blood, activates blood circulation, and resolves stasis.
