Source: It is the root bark and leaves of the plant Ilex serrata Thunb. of the Aquifoliaceae family. It can be harvested throughout the year, but it is usually used fresh.

Taste: Sweet, bitter, and cool.

Functions and Indications: Clears heat, detoxifies, cools the blood, and stops bleeding. It is used for burns, scalds, bleeding from wounds, ulcers, and lung abscesses.

Dosage: 0.5-1 liang (a traditional Chinese unit of weight); for external use, apply a sufficient amount of fresh Luoshuanghong to the affected area after crushing it.

Applications of Luoshuanghong in Combination with Other Herbs

1. Treatment of lung abscess:

Boil 1-2 liang of fresh Luoshuanghong root and drink the decoction.

2. Treatment of burns:

Grind the fresh root bark of Luoshuanghong into a paste and apply the juice.

3. Treatment of ulcers and sores:

Boil 1-2 liang of fresh Luoshuanghong root and drink the decoction. Crush fresh leaves and apply externally.

4. Treatment of bruises and injuries:

Steam 1 liang of fresh Luoshuanghong root slices with yellow wine until cooked. Divide into three portions and take before meals, or boil in water and mix with yellow wine.

5. Treatment of stomach pain and enteritis:

Take 5 qian of Luoshuanghong root and 3 qian of Qingmuxiang, dry and grind into powder. Take three times a day, two fen each time, with hot water. 6. Treatment of muscle and bone soreness caused by excessive physical labor:

7. Treatment of chronic blood stasis and bone and muscle pain:

8. Treatment of infantile convulsions:

Take 2-3 qian of Luoshuanghong root, boil in water, and drink the decoction.

9. Postoperative pain relief:

Take 5-6 qian of Luoshuanghong root, boil in water, and drink the decoction.

10. Treatment of snake bites:
