February 4, 2024

Ze Xie, many people think it is a plant, but it is actually a traditional Chinese medicine, which has good therapeutic effects on diabetes. Today, I will introduce the lipid-lowering effects of Ze Xie!

【Lipid-lowering effects of Ze Xie】

The lipid-soluble part of Ze Xie has significant cholesterol-lowering and anti-atherosclerotic effects on experimental hypercholesterolemia rabbits. Ze Xie alcohol A, B and Ze Xie alcohol A, B, C acetates isolated from it, except for Ze Xie alcohol B, all have significant cholesterol-lowering effects.

When added to the feed of experimental hyperlipidemia rats at a concentration of 0.1%, it can reduce blood cholesterol by more than 50%, and Ze Xie alcohol A-24-acetate has the strongest effect.

Ethanol extracts of Ze Xie, ethanolic tincture ethyl acetate extracts, etc., have lipid-lowering effects on experimental hypercholesterolemia rabbits and rats.

【Side effects of Ze Xie】

Ze Xie has hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity, and its side effects mainly manifest as swelling of the liver and kidneys and other symptoms of poisoning if taken improperly.

In addition, Ze Xie contains Ze Xie alcohol substances, which can cause decreased appetite and increased intestinal sounds. The irritating substances can cause gastroenteritis when taken orally.

After taking a large dose, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, increased bowel movements, abnormal liver function, hematuria may occur, and in severe cases, respiratory paralysis may occur.

Rashes and itching may also occur, and topical use may cause foamy dermatitis. Long-term use can lead to water and electrolyte disorders and damage to the liver and kidneys.

【Contraindications of Ze Xie】

(1) Cannot be used together with clams.

According to the "Compendium of Materia Medica", Ze Xie is afraid of clams. Therefore, the two should not be mixed for use, otherwise it will harm your health.

(2) Not suitable for those with kidney deficiency and slippery essence.

"The Famous Doctors' Notes" said: "Bian Que said that excessive use can damage the patient's eyes." "Introduction to Medicine" says: "For those with frequent urination, thirst, edema, caused by kidney deficiency, it should not be used."

"The Commentary on the Compendium of Materia Medica" also states: "Patients without dampness or excessive drinking and with yin deficiency, as well as those with exhausted kidney qi, weakened yang, slippery essence, eye pain, and symptoms such as leakage due to deficiency-cold, should avoid using it."
