The characteristics of acid vine wood are generally that the leaves are curled, and they become inverted-ovate to elliptic in shape after being flattened, with a length of 3-5.5cm and a width of 1-2.5cm. The apex is blunt or slightly concave, the base is wedge-shaped, the margin is entire, and the lateral veins are not obvious. The petiole is short, about 5-3mm long. Sometimes, small branches can be seen, which are slender and cylindrical, with varying lengths and purple-brown in color. It has a slight odor and a sour taste.
Acid vine wood has the effects of clearing heat, detoxification, dispersing stasis, and stopping bleeding. It is mainly used to treat redness and swelling of the throat, gum bleeding, dysentery, diarrhea, ulcers, itchy skin, hemorrhoids, and injuries from falls or blows. Acid vine wood can also be used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.
In folk medicine, rural people often use acid vine wood to treat oral inflammation. The method is as follows: boil the acid vine in water, and after boiling, use the water to rinse the mouth, which can treat oral inflammation.
Treatment for tinea capitis in children: 1.5g of acid vine wood root, boil in water to make a concentrated decoction, and wash the affected area with warm decoction twice a day. Continue for 3 days.
Treatment for prolapse of anus or uterus: 30g of acid vine wood root, 15g of castor oil plant root, 25g of Le Lu root (root of a Chinese herb), and an appropriate amount of chicken, boil together and take orally.
