【Huashan Fuzi Fruit Plant Morphology】
Huashan Fuzi Fruit: A shrub. The young branches, petioles, and leaf backs are covered with gray-yellow curled hairs.
The leaves are opposite; the petioles are 3-5mm long; the leaf blades are papery, elliptical or inverted egg-shaped, 4-7 (-10) cm long, 2-5 cm wide, with acute or short tips, sometimes round, and the base is wedge-shaped or round. The leaf edges have fine pointed serrations, and the leaf surface has short soft hairs;
The midrib is concave on the leaf surface, with 4-7 lateral veins on each side; the cone-shaped inflorescence is terminal or axillary, 4-7cm long, and the inflorescence axis, bracts, and calyx outside are densely covered with yellow curled hairs. The bracts fall off early; the calyx is 2-3mm long, with long oval-shaped lobes longer than the tube;
The corolla is white, fragrant, about 4mm long, and deeply divided into 5 lobes, reaching the base; there are 50-60 stamens, and the filament bases are fused into 5 stamen bodies; the flower disk has 5 raised glandular spots and is hairless; the ovary has 2 chambers.
The drupe is ovoid-round and oblique, 5-7mm long, covered with closely attached soft hairs, and turns blue when ripe, with the sepals leaning inward. Flowering period is from April to May, and fruiting period is from August to September.
