We know that there are many types of traditional Chinese medicine, and Lungwort is one of them. So, what disease does Lungwort treat? In addition to the known benefits, what are the additional treatment methods for Lungwort?

What disease does Lungwort treat?

Lungwort is a traditional Chinese medicine that clears heat, nourishes the lungs, reduces swelling, and relieves pain. It is used to treat diseases such as pulmonary tuberculosis, mumps, lymphadenitis, laryngitis, leukorrhea, hot toxic swelling, and injuries caused by falls or blows.

Lungwort is a perennial herb with a height of 10-45 centimeters. The basal leaves are thick and papery, kidney-shaped or heart-shaped, with a length of 2.5-6 centimeters. The leaf stalk can reach up to 16 centimeters. There is one stem leaf, which is round, heart-shaped at the base, and clasps the stem with entire margins.

The flowers are white and solitary at the top of the stem. There are 5 sepals, ovate or broadly ovate, with blunt rounded tips. There are 5 petals, spoon-shaped, inverted ovate, or inverted lanceolate, up to 2.5 centimeters long, with entire margins. Sometimes, the lower or basal part of the petals have sparse ciliate-like fine splits.

There are 5 stamens, alternating with the petals. The anthers are brown, diamond-shaped, and protrude above the filaments. The stamens between the pistils have 3 deep splits above the middle. The ovary is superior with 3 fused carpels. The pistil is slightly longer than the ovary, with a 3-lobed stigma. The fruit is oval-shaped.

The flowering and fruiting period is from June to September.

It grows on mountain slopes, forest edges, under forests, or on grassy slopes. It is distributed in Yunnan, Sichuan, Hunan, Hubei, Shaanxi, Henan, and other places.
