Traditional Chinese medicine believes that Chishangsan has the effects of clearing heat, detoxifying, promoting blood circulation, and reducing swelling. It is mainly used to treat dysentery, leukorrhea, heat-induced headaches, irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, breast abscess, and bruises.

1. "Compilation of Folk Commonly Used Herbs": "Clears heat in the three burners. Treats dizziness."

2. "Hunan Materia Medica": "Relieves pain."

3. "Practical Selection of Traditional Chinese Medicinal Herbs in Guangxi": "Reduces swelling and detoxifies. Treats snake bites, abscesses, unknown swellings, and mastitis."

4. "Commonly Used Traditional Chinese Medicinal Herbs in Sichuan": "Clears heat, promotes blood circulation. Treats internal injuries, heat-induced dizziness and headaches, excessive menstruation, amenorrhea, cough due to deficient fire, dysentery, and ulcers."

[Application of Chishangsan in Formulas]

1. Treating dysentery: Take 1 liang of Queyaoleaf Polygonum, decoct in water and take orally.

2. Treating abdominal pain: Take 5 qian of Queyaoleaf Polygonum and 1 qian of Xylol, decoct in water and take orally.

3. Treating leukorrhea: Take 6 qian of Queyaoleaf Polygonum, 3 qian of Chinese fir pulp, and 3 qian of sandalwood pulp, decoct in water and take orally. For leukorrhea, add white sugar; for red discharge, add red sugar, rose flower, and gelatin.

4. Treating abscesses: Mash Queyaoleaf Polygonum and apply topically.

5. Treating bruises: Decoct Queyaoleaf Polygonum in water and mix with alcohol for oral administration. (The formula below is from "Hunan Materia Medica")

[Habitat and Distribution of Chishangsan]

1. Ecological environment

(1) It grows in damp places such as roadsides, ditches, and grasslands, or it can be cultivated.

(2) It grows in the mountains below 3000m above sea level, in forest undergrowth, and in valley grasslands.

(1) It is distributed in Southwest China, as well as Shaanxi, Gansu, Taiwan, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Tibet, and other regions.
