Impetigo is more common on the face and exposed areas of the limbs. It starts as red patches or papules and quickly develops into blisters. It is easily transmitted through contact and inoculation. So, what are some traditional Chinese remedies for impetigo?

1. Pine resin and borneol oil
Materials: 10g of pine resin, 10g of alum, 3g of borneol, appropriate amount of camphor oil.

Usage: Grind the first three ingredients into a fine powder and mix with camphor oil. Store in a bottle.

When using, wash the affected area with warm saline water at a concentration of 1%. After drying, apply a suitable amount of ointment. Use 1-2 times daily.

2. Dandelion wash

Materials: 120g of purslane, dandelion, snakegrass, and alum each.

Usage: Grind the above ingredients into a coarse paste, put it in a gauze bag, and add 2.5-3.5 liters of water. Boil for 30 minutes.

Soak a soft towel in the herbal juice and wash the affected area, or soak in hot water. This can help clear heat, detoxify, eliminate dampness, and relieve itching in impetigo.

3. Coptis chinensis wash

Materials: 30g of coptis chinensis and forsythia.

Usage: Grind the above materials and boil in water. Filter the decoction and pour it into a basin. Wash the affected area with the decoction when it cools down. Each time, wash for 20-30 minutes, 2-3 times daily.

Efficacy: This remedy can clear heat, dry dampness, detoxify, and disperse nodules. It is used for impetigo with scattered pustules on the face and limbs, redness around the pustules, or ulceration with thick yellow discharge.
4. Egg yolk for treating impetigo

Take 2 eggs, boil them, remove the shells and egg whites, and use only the egg yolks. Heat the egg yolks in a pot until the water evaporates and the egg yolk oil is obtained. Apply directly to the affected area, 1-3 times daily, to treat impetigo.
