Throat grass is an annual herbaceous plant, 8-15 centimeters tall, covered with white fine hairs.

The leaves grow in clusters from the roots, forming a lotus-like arrangement on the ground, with slender stalks;

The leaf blades are nearly circular, about 15 millimeters in diameter, with a slightly heart-shaped base and rounded toothed edges. The upper surface is green, sometimes with purple-red patches.

The flower stems emerge from the leaf clusters, with 3-7 branches and 5-7 umbel-like inflorescences at the top;

The calyx is green, deeply divided into 5 lobes, with ovate shape and persistent; the corolla is white, with the lower part fused into a short tubular shape and the upper part divided into 5 lobes that spread outward; there are 5 stamens; the ovary is spherical with inconspicuous stigma.

The capsule is spherical, 2-3 millimeters in diameter, and splits into 5 segments when ripe. The seeds are numerous, small, and brown. The flowering period is in April and the fruiting period is in May.

① Treatment for sore throat, oral ulcers: Fine powder of throat grass blown onto the affected area.

② Treatment for bruises or long periods of sitting causing lower back pain: One liang of throat grass, five qian of Xiantao grass, one qian of Luan Tou Fa. Soak in half a jin of alcohol. Take twice a day, with each dose not exceeding one liang.

③ Treatment for hemoptysis: Three qian of throat grass. Grind into powder and swallow with alcohol.
