Can Nutrition Really Cure Diseases? The Role of Food in Healing and Prevention.

January 29, 2024

We usually believe that food is the material for human growth and development. Traditional Chinese dietary therapy, also known as food therapy or food treatment, is a method of using food to influence various functions of the body in order to achieve health or prevent diseases. Can nutrition really cure diseases?

First, many diseases are caused by a lack of certain nutrients such as protein, fat, vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin A, folate, and calcium, which are all essential nutrients for the body. When the body lacks these nutrients severely, various inexplicable diseases may occur, such as edema, dermatitis, excessive sweating of hands and feet, peeling of hands and feet, beriberi, scar hyperplasia, and osteophyte growth.

If you have these diseases and encounter a doctor who lacks knowledge of nutrition, they may prescribe excessive medication, hormones, or surgeries, resulting in wasted money without curing the disease.

Second, many diseases are caused by dietary mistakes, such as hypertension, diabetes, and fatty liver. Since they are caused by incorrect diet, nutritionists can gradually cure these diseases by adjusting their diet.

This is what we call healing without medication. However, for more severe patients, relying solely on diet is not enough. They also need targeted nutrients and sometimes even traditional Chinese medicine methods.

Since hypertension, diabetes, and fatty liver are all caused by incorrect diet, relying solely on doctors to cure them is like expecting a pig to climb a tree, because these diseases fall within the scope of nutrition.

Currently, there are already 100 million hypertensive patients in China;

Currently, there are already 100 million diabetic patients in China;

Currently, there are already 100 million fatty liver patients in China.

Why aren't there more patients getting cured? Because ordinary people only trust hospitals for medical treatment, and hospitals are not good at treating hypertension, diabetes, and fatty liver. As a result, more and more people in China are suffering from these diseases.

Third, many diseases are caused by immune system problems, such as rhinitis, enteritis, eczema, urticaria, psoriasis, rheumatism, lupus erythematosus, and erythema annulare centrifugum. Therefore, these diseases are also known as immune diseases.

Whenever there is an immune problem, there must be a nutritional problem. Therefore, it is wrong to rely solely on medication to suppress these diseases. Medications cannot improve the body's nutritional and immune foundation, but they can temporarily suppress the disease during the outbreak stage. For example, some people often have itchy noses and like to rub them, even though they don't sneeze. This is an early symptom of allergic rhinitis (which can be inherited). Applying some tacrolimus can relieve the itching. At this point, you have two choices: one is to apply tacrolimus for the rest of your life, and the condition will worsen over time; the other is to increase nutrition and improve immune foundation.

Fourth, nutrition can have a good auxiliary therapeutic effect for many diseases, such as varicose veins, depression, ADHD, tic disorder, chlamydial pneumonia in children, and bronchitis in children.

The saying "treat diseases with medicine, accompany with food" means that when a person has a disease, they should take medicine, but they must also follow a nutritious diet. Otherwise, relying solely on medication to suppress the disease without providing proper nutrition to repair the damaged organs is like taking medicine in vain.

In fact, both nutritionists and doctors are medical professionals, one focusing on food and the other on medicine. Doctors are there to save lives in emergencies, while nutritionists are there to prevent diseases from worsening. However, modern people do not listen to nutritionists, so doctors are overwhelmed.

For example, there is a typical patient who skips breakfast, eats a lot for dinner, and eats quickly. It's no wonder they have stomach problems. Such stomach problems cannot be cured by medication alone; they can only temporarily suppress the symptoms.

After falling ill, under the guidance of a doctor, using medication reasonably can quickly control the symptoms. Medications mainly control the development of bacteria, viruses, and inflammation or temporarily supplement external sources. In most cases, medications buy time for the body's organ function to repair. However, medications have a problem: they have no relevance to the body's health foundation and can deteriorate the body when taken for a long time. Only by gradually establishing a good nutritional foundation can the body become healthier.
