Grape root refers to the root of the grape plant (Vitis vinifera L.), a member of the grape family. It is cultivated in various regions of China. It has the effects of dispelling wind, promoting dampness, detoxifying, and reducing swelling.   Effects of Grape Root

  

  Dispels wind and opens the meridians; promotes dampness and reduces swelling; detoxifies. Mainly used for rheumatism, numbness in limbs, bruises, edema, difficulty in urination, boils, and abscesses.

  

  Functions of Grape Root

  

  1. Treats joint pain: Take two to three liang of white grape root, one pig's trotter, or one or two tails of catfish. Boil with water or stew with equal amounts of wine and water, and take orally. (Fujian Folk Herbal Medicine)

  

  2. Treats hematemesis: Grape root, white Elymus root, lateral cypress leaf, red tea flower, madder root, lotus root node. Stew with meat and take orally. (Sichuan Materia Medica)
