January 26, 2024

Blood-filled grass is the name of a traditional Chinese medicine. Thanks to the research of ancient people on herbal medicine, we have the concept of traditional Chinese medicine today, which has a profound influence and great significance. Today, let's learn about the medicinal uses and efficacy of blood-filled grass!

Blood-filled grass is a perennial erect herbaceous plant, reaching a height of 1-2 meters. It has slender, cylindrical roots that grow horizontally and numerous fibrous roots.

The stem is round with longitudinal stripes, prominent nodes, and covered with coarse hairs. When broken, it exudes red-colored sap.

The leaves are opposite; compound leaves with odd-pinnate leaflets and paired glandular protrusions.

There are 3-11 leaflets, measuring 8-16 centimeters long and 4-7 centimeters wide. The largest leaflet is ovate, while the smaller leaflets on both sides are lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate. The apex is gradually pointed to long pointed, with finely serrated edges. The base is obtuse or broadly wedge-shaped, and both sides of the leaflets are sparsely covered with coarse hairs. The lower surface is lighter in color, and the lateral veins are feather-like. The base of the top leaflet is often connected to the lower two leaflets. The leaf stalk often has leaflet-like stipules at the base.

The inflorescence is in the form of a conical umbel; the flowers are small, dense, and white, with yellow cup-shaped glands scattered among them. The fruit is berry-like, black in color.

It grows in open fields, sparse forests, and damp areas. It is distributed in Yunnan, Tibet, and other places.

In folk medicine, blood-filled grass is generally used for internal or external application, both of which can fully exert the plant's medicinal effects and have a good therapeutic effect.

1. Treat rheumatic pain: Blood-filled grass has good therapeutic effects on rheumatic pain. For joint pain, it can be directly decocted in water and applied externally to achieve analgesic effects.

2. Treat infantile paralysis: The treatment of this disease requires the combination of other acupuncture methods to achieve better results. During the medication, the use of medicinal liquor can also produce good therapeutic effects.

3. Treat swelling: Blood-filled grass can be cooked together with other heat-clearing and mild-natured ingredients, such as tofu, to eliminate swelling. In addition, it also has good efficacy in treating colon bleeding.
