Grass Fruit Remedies for Malaria and Digestive Issues

1. Grass Fruit Drink

Benefits: Treats malaria. Relieves alternating hot and cold sensations, restlessness, thirst, and headaches, or symptoms of both hot and cold.

Ingredients: 4 grass fruit seeds, 0.5 qian of ginseng (without the root), 13 pinches of pinellia ternata (soaked in boiling water 7 times), 0.5 qian of licorice (roasted), 3 jujubes, 3 black plums, 1 piece of fresh ginger (3 inches long).

Usage: Chew and swallow. Boil the ingredients with 1 large bowl of water until reduced to half a bowl. Remove the residue and drink it warm before meals.

2. Grass Fruit Powder

Benefits: Treats pregnancy-related weak spleen and stomach, long-term weakness of the spleen and stomach, and abdominal pain.

Ingredients: 2 liang of magnolia bark (peeled and soaked in ginger juice, then stir-fried until golden), 1 musk mallow (stir-fried), 1 cardamom (stir-fried).

Usage: Chew and swallow. Take 3 qian with 1 cup of water, add 3 slices of fresh ginger, boil until reduced to 7 parts, remove the residue, and drink it hot.

3. Grass Fruit Jianzhong Soup

Benefits: Treats malaria in children.

Ingredients: 0.5 liang of ginseng, 0.5 liang of grass fruit, 0.5 liang of cinnamon, 1 liang of white peony, 3 fen of licorice.

Preparation: Powder the ingredients.

Usage: Boil in a large pot and take multiple times a day.

4. Grass Fruit Beef Soup

Benefits: Relieves liver disease with cold hands and feet, stomach coldness, and bloating. Helps with digestion and pain relief, but not suitable for those with gastric heat and constipation.

Ingredients: 6 grams of grass fruit, 200 grams of beef.

Ingredients: Equal parts of perilla leaf, grass fruit, nutgrass, white atractylodes, dried ginger, and licorice.

6. Grass Fruit Yin Chen Soup

Ingredients: 1 qian of grass fruit, 3 qian of Yin Chen, 3 qian of poria cocos, 2 qian of magnolia bark, 1 qian and 5 fen of dried tangerine peel, 2 qian of polyporus, 2 qian of pig's stomach lining, 1 qian and 5 fen of alisma orientalis.

Usage: Boil with 5 cups of water until reduced to 2 cups, divided into 2 doses.

7. Grass Fruit Hawthorn Wine

Benefits: Warms the middle burner, dries dampness, aids digestion, and relieves food stagnation. Suitable for those with stomach distention and pain, and poor digestion.

Ingredients: 10 grams of grass fruit, 5 grams of hawthorn, 250 milliliters of white wine.

Preparation: Wash and dry the grass fruit and hawthorn, soak them in white wine for 7 days.

Usage: Drink 10-15 milliliters each time, twice a day.

8. Magnolia Grass Fruit Soup

Benefits: Treats damp malaria, deficiency of heat, white and greasy tongue coating, chest and epigastric distention, coldness in the extremities, and preference for hot drinks when thirsty.

Prescription: Changshan, grass fruit, pinellia ternata, dried tangerine peel, magnolia bark, mature atractylodes, licorice.

Usage: Add fried radish seeds for distention and pain in the chest; add dried citrus peel for abdominal pain.

10. Cardamom Grass Fruit Black-Bone Chicken

Benefits: Strengthens the spleen, invigorates the qi, stimulates appetite, and stops diarrhea. Suitable for those with weak spleen and stomach, poor appetite, bloating, loose stools, and fatigue.

Ingredients: 6 grams of white cardamom, 6 grams of grass fruit, 1 black-bone chicken.

Method: First, burn the grass fruit and grind it with the cardamom. Then, wash the black-bone chicken, remove the internal organs, and stuff the chicken with the powdered herbs. Tie it up and boil until cooked.

Usage: Eat on an empty stomach as desired.

11. Grass Fruit Aconite Soup

Benefits: Warms the middle burner, dispels cold, and relieves spasms. Suitable for those with weak yang, stagnation of the ascending and descending functions, and pain in the stomach area.

Ingredients: 15 grams of grass fruit seeds, 15 grams of aconite (pre-boiled), 15 grams of Corydalis yanhusuo, 10 grams each of white cardamom (added later), clove (added later), mountain hawthorn, fennel, and licorice, 5 grams each of dried ginger, cardamom (added later), and melia toosendan.

Preparation: Boil the ingredients with an appropriate amount of water, simmer twice, remove the residue, and collect 300 milliliters of the decoction.

Usage: Take 1 dose per day, warm, morning and evening.

12. Grass Fruit Seven Jujube Soup

Benefits: Treats malaria.

Prescription: Equal parts of grass fruit, Changshan, fritillaria, areca, jujube, licorice, and black plum, doubled for Artemisia annua.

Usage: Take 4 qian with 1.5 cups of water, boil until reduced to 7 parts, and drink it through the mouth. Boil the residue again and drink it.
