Preventing Angular Stomatitis: Traditional Chinese Medicine Dietary Treatments

January 24, 2024

Oral angular stomatitis is a very common oral disease, often caused by a lack of vitamin B2 in the body. It usually manifests as inflammation at the corners of the mouth, tongue inflammation, loss of appetite, or physical weakness. Therefore, it is important to timely and adequately supplement vitamin B2. Since angular stomatitis has such significant side effects, how can we prevent it? Below, we will introduce three traditional Chinese medicine dietary treatments for angular stomatitis to help prevent it.

Dietary Treatment 1: Salmon and Chicken Egg Rice Wrap

Ingredients: 20g salmon, 20g chicken, 10g green onion, 100g cooked rice, 2 eggs, a little salad oil, a little salt, a little pepper.

Instructions:

1. Cut the salmon into cubes and the chicken into shreds. Blanch them in hot water and remove.

2. Stir-fry the green onion in a pan with some oil until aromatic. Add the salmon, chicken, rice, pepper, and salt. Stir-fry until well mixed.

3. Beat the eggs into a paste and pour evenly into the pan. Fry until the egg forms a thin layer.

4. Wrap the rice with the egg, and add some tomato sauce on top.

Effect:

A lack of vitamin B2 can lead to symptoms such as angular stomatitis, tongue inflammation, loss of appetite, and physical weakness. Consuming 400g of salmon or 200g of chicken eggs every day can provide the body with the necessary vitamin B2.

Dietary Treatment 2: Egg Yolk Meat Rolls

Ingredients:

400g red meat, 3 cabbage leaves, 2 salted duck eggs, 2 seaweed sheets, 2 bean curd sheets, a little sesame oil, a suitable amount of salad oil, a little salt.

Instructions:

1. Grind the red meat and mix it with salt, sesame oil, and the egg whites from the salted duck eggs.

2. Shape the salted duck egg yolks into long strips.

3. Roll the salted duck egg yolks with cabbage leaves, then roll them with seaweed and bean curd sheets. Use starch to secure the outer layer.

4. Heat salad oil in a pan and fry the meat rolls until golden brown. Slice and serve.

Effect:

Pork, salted duck eggs, and seaweed all contain a good amount of vitamin B2, making this a good dietary treatment for preventing and treating angular stomatitis.

Dietary Treatment 3: Winter Melon Tremella Egg Flower Soup

Ingredients:

Winter melon, Tremella, eggs, garlic, oil, and salt.

Instructions:

1. Soak the Tremella in warm water for about 1-2 hours. Cut off the yellow parts and tear the white Tremella into small pieces. Peel and slice the winter melon. Mince the garlic.

2. Heat oil in a pot, stir-fry the garlic until fragrant, then add water and Tremella. Bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer for 20 minutes. Add the winter melon slices, bring to a boil again, and continue simmering for 20 minutes over low heat.

3. Add salt to the cooked winter melon and Tremella soup. Pour the beaten eggs into the pot, stirring quickly with a spoon to create egg flowers. Turn off the heat and drizzle a few drops of sesame oil. The winter melon Tremella egg flower soup is ready to serve.

Effect:

If a baby has angular stomatitis, it is mostly caused by a lack of vitamin B complex. Winter melon is rich in vitamin B1, and when cooked with garlic, it can prolong the time that vitamin B1 stays in the body. Tremella and eggs are rich in vitamin B2, which can prevent and eliminate inflammation in the oral cavity, lips, tongue, and skin, preventing angular stomatitis.

As oral angular stomatitis is an oral disease, we must pay more attention to our diet. It is best to have a light diet, avoid spicy food, and focus on the benefits that dietary treatments for angular stomatitis can bring us. Let's not let our greed for food cause oral inflammation and impact our lives.
