Huagai San, a prescription name in traditional Chinese medicine, comes from "Tai Ping Hui Min He Ji Ju Fang" in the Song Dynasty. [Prescription Song]

Huagai Ma Xing Zi Su Zi, Fu Ling Chen Cao Sang Bai Pi; Feng Han Shu Fei Tan Bu Shuang, Ji Yi Jian Fu Mo Chi Yi.

[Composition]

Su Zi (fried), Ma Huang (roots and stems removed), Xing Ren (peeled and pointed), Chen Pi (white part removed), Sang Bai Pi, Chi Fu Ling (peeled), and Gan Cao (fried), each 30g, Gan Cao 15g.

[Efficacy and Function]

This prescription has the effects of nourishing the lungs and resolving phlegm, stopping cough and relieving wheezing. It is mainly used for treating lung cold invasion, cough with shortness of breath, chest and diaphragm fullness, neck and back stiffness, long-term hoarseness, dizziness, phlegm stagnation, and noisy breathing.

[Prescription Explanation]

Ma Huang in the prescription can ventilate the lungs and resolve phlegm, and induce sweating to expel the pathogenic factors from the surface. Xing Ren and Su Zi can descend Qi and eliminate phlegm, ventilate the lungs and stop coughing. Chen Pi can regulate Qi, dry dampness, Sang Bai Pi can purge the lungs and promote diuresis, Chi Fu Ling can infiltrate dampness and promote diuresis, and these three ingredients work together to promote Qi circulation and eliminate phlegm. Gan Cao can harmonize all the other herbs. Together, they form the efficacy of nourishing the lungs and resolving phlegm, stopping cough and relieving wheezing.

[Preparation Method]

Grind all the ingredients into coarse powder.

[Dosage]

Take 6g per serving, boil with 150g of water until it reduces to 90ml, and take it warm after meals.
