Discovery and Potential of the Anti-Cancer Activity of Guangdong Medicinal Herb Banbianq

The main scientific value of the systematic study on the anti-cancer effect of the Guangdong medicinal herb Banbianq is the first discovery of its anti-cancer activity, and a comprehensive and in-depth study has been conducted around this discovery:

  

  ① The significant anti-cancer activity of Banbianq has been discovered and confirmed for the first time, with minimal toxic side effects, and it has shown synergistic effects when used in combination with other chemotherapy drugs.

  

  ② The discovery of novel anti-cancer active compounds 5F, 6F, and A for the first time, all of which are diterpenoids, and the molecular formula, molecular weight, and chemical structure of these active compounds have been determined.

  

  ③ The potency of the anti-cancer active compounds has been determined using structure-activity relationship analysis, providing a theoretical basis for further research on target compounds.

  

  ④ The mechanisms of action of the anti-cancer active compounds 5F and 6F have been elucidated using modern molecular biology methods, confirming the close relationship between the anti-cancer activity of Banbianq and the induction of cell apoptosis, inhibition of cell proliferation, and blockade of cell invasion, involving changes in the expression of numerous cell factors related to apoptosis, proliferation, and invasion.

  
        

 

  ⑤ The pharmacokinetic process of 5F has been analyzed and discussed by establishing an animal model.

  

  ⑥ Advanced methods of modernizing traditional Chinese medicine have been applied, including supercritical CO2 extraction combined with macroporous adsorption resin separation and high-performance liquid chromatography atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometry (LC-MS), to establish standards for the isolation and identification of the anti-cancer active compounds of Banbianq.

  

  ⑦ Attempts have been made to formulate the anti-cancer active compounds of Banbianq into various dosage forms.

  

  ⑧ Detailed and systematic studies have been conducted on the botanical source, medicinal characteristics, microscopic structure, and physicochemical properties of Banbianq, and it has been successfully included in the Guangdong Province medicinal herb standard.

  

  ⑨ After years of research, more than 100 experimental research papers have been published, which may provide some reference value for colleagues engaged in anti-cancer drug research.

  

  In summary, this project has discovered for the first time the anti-cancer activity of the Guangdong medicinal herb Banbianq, and its anti-cancer active compounds have great potential to become new anti-cancer drugs.
