 Identification of Qingmuxiang

  Qingmuxiang is cylindrical or slightly flattened cylindrical, 3-15cm long and 0.5-1.5cm in diameter. The surface is yellowish-brown or grayish-brown, rough, with longitudinal wrinkles and root marks.

  It is brittle and easy to break. The cross-section is uneven, with a pale yellow skin and a wide wood section. The rays are white and radiate in a radial arrangement, forming obvious layers and a yellow-brown color. It has a unique aroma and a bitter taste.

 Contraindications of Qingmuxiang

  1. It should be used with caution in patients with deficiency-cold.

  2. "Tang Materia Medica": Do not take it excessively, as it can cause vomiting and diarrhea.

  3. "Benjing Fengyuan": It should not be taken by those with lung cold cough, cold phlegm causing asthma, or weak stomach and loss of appetite, as its pungent aroma can cause erratic movement.

  Reminder: Qingmuxiang is slightly toxic. It is commonly used in folk medicine to treat abdominal pain. If the dosage is slightly higher, it may cause nausea and vomiting. Long-term use is not recommended.
