January 21, 2024

Chickenpox is an acute infectious disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus. It is characterized by fever and the appearance of various types of skin rashes, such as macules, papules, vesicles, and crusts. It can occur in any season, with preschool children being the most susceptible population. The main modes of transmission for this disease are respiratory droplet transmission and contact transmission. To help children recover quickly, both internal medication and external application are recommended.

Internal Medication: Yin Qiao Xiao Dou Tang

Ingredients: 6g of honeysuckle, 6g of forsythia, 3g of Coptis chinensis, 4g of lithospermum, 3g of licorice.

Method: Decoct the above ingredients in an appropriate amount of water and take one dose daily.

External Application: Qing Dai Fang

Ingredient: 30g of indigo naturalis.

Method: Grind the indigo naturalis into powder, dip a piece of degreased cotton in it and apply it to the affected area. Wrap it with sterile gauze and repeat the process 3-4 times daily. A treatment course lasts for 3-5 days.

Qing Dai (indigo naturalis) has the effects of clearing heat, detoxification, cooling blood, and removing blemishes, making it suitable for external treatment of chickenpox. The five medicinal herbs in Yin Qiao Xiao Dou Tang all have the properties of clearing heat, detoxification, and removing blemishes. When used together, they have a powerful comprehensive effect on reducing fever, fighting viruses, and eliminating rashes. By combining internal medication with external application, the symptoms of chickenpox can usually be alleviated within three days.

Precautions

Since children are the high-risk population for chickenpox, the care of affected children is crucial. Improper care can lead to recurrent symptoms and easy transmission. To take good care of a child with chickenpox, it is important to first ensure that adults are not infected, and secondly, to ensure indoor ventilation, disinfection, and isolation of the affected child from others. When changing the external dressing, great attention should be paid to avoid contact transmission. In terms of diet, it is important to keep the diet light and nutritious, and to keep the child at home as much as possible to prevent transmission to others.
