1. Habitat Distribution

Purple Oil Wood Leaves grow in limestone mountain forests or shrubs at an altitude of 580-2700 meters. They are distributed in southwestern China, Guangxi, Tibet, and other regions.

2. Biological Characteristics

Purple Oil Wood Leaves prefer warm and humid climates, abundant sunlight, and well-drained soil for cultivation. The main root of the plant penetrates deep into the soil, so it is suitable for planting in sandy loam with deep soil and rich humus.

Fragrant Wood is a positive tree, but it can tolerate slight shade. It prefers warm climates and requires deep soil, strong germination power, slow growth, and long lifespan. However, the young seedlings are not very cold-tolerant and need protection in the northern regions of China.

3. Cultivation Techniques

Propagation is done using seeds. Mature and full fruits are harvested, dried, and stored in sand. The following spring, sow the seeds in March. Dig a furrow for sowing, with a row spacing of 30cm and a seed spacing of 5cm. After covering the seeds with soil, water them to keep the soil moist. When the seedlings reach a height of 35-40cm, transplant them. Plant them with a row and plant spacing of 300cm × 300cm.

Fragrant Wood is sensitive to fertilizers. For young seedlings, it is better to apply less or even no fertilizer to avoid burning or excessive elongation of the plants. Propagation can be done through cutting in both spring and autumn.
