January 18, 2024

The wood lotus fruit is native to China and is harvested before it cracks open when it ripens in August. It is then dried in the sun.

The wood lotus fruit is primarily used for medicinal purposes and is not intended for direct consumption.

(1) It is a highly effective medicinal herb. Fresh fruits can be boiled and mixed with an appropriate amount of rock sugar to be consumed throughout the day. It helps to clear heat, relieve summer heat, and warm the body. It also aids digestion and prevents constipation.

(2) The wood lotus fruit can be processed and used to make tea. The tea should be made with boiling water and consumed daily. It helps to improve overall health and treat cough, although the effects may be slower.

For patients with severe cough, it is recommended to boil the wood lotus fruit directly, with a dosage of about 5 qian each time.

(3) The wood lotus fruit can also be used as an ingredient for soup, providing dietary and health benefits.
