Clinical manifestations of hyperthyroidism with liver fire:

Restlessness, irritability, heat intolerance, bitter taste in the mouth, spontaneous sweating, dizziness, tremors, red tongue, thin white or slightly yellow coating, and rapid and stringy pulse.


Gan Shao Dong Sun (Braised Winter Bamboo Shoots)

Ingredients: 300g winter bamboo shoots, 10g goji berries, 10g Ophiopogon japonicus, 5g fresh chrysanthemum flowers, 2g gardenia fruit

Method: Cut the winter bamboo shoots into diamond-shaped pieces, fry them in a low-temperature oil until golden yellow, then transfer to another pot and add clear broth, seasonings, and the four herbs mentioned above. Bring to a boil over high heat and then simmer over low heat until the sauce is dry. Serve on a plate.

Effect: Clears liver fire, eliminates phlegm, and nourishes yin.

Usage: Serve with meals.

Ju Bang Huai Zhu (Chrysanthemum and Abalone Roll)

Ingredients: 10 abalones, 100g ground pork, 1 egg white, 15g yellow wine, 10g fresh chrysanthemum flowers, several sheets of fresh bamboo leaves, 3g Zhebei powder

Method: First, soften the abalones with a wooden hammer, then put them in a pot and cook over low heat until tender. Remove and let cool. Mix the ground pork with Zhebei powder, green onion, ginger, salt, and egg white, and shape into 20 small meatballs. Boil them in boiling water. Then divide each abalone into two pieces and place one meatball in each. Line a large bowl with bamboo leaves, place the abalone rolls on top, add a little yellow wine, and steam in a steamer for 5 to 10 minutes. In another pot, add lean broth, bring to a boil, and add salt, MSG, and fresh chrysanthemum flowers. Pour the soup over the abalone rolls and serve with a plate of pepper powder.

Hai Dai Chen Pi Luo Bo Tang (Kelp, Tangerine Peel, and Radish Soup)

Ingredients: 25g kelp, 250g white radish, 2 small pieces of tangerine peel

Method: Cut the white radish and kelp into thin shreds. Cook them together with the tangerine peel for half an hour. Add salt and seasonings to taste.

Effect: Dissolves masses, promotes qi circulation, and relieves depression.

Usage: Take 1 dose daily, drink the soup and eat the radish and kelp twice a day.

Yi Kang Zhou (Suppressing Hyperactivity Porridge)

Ingredients: 15g Radix Scrophulariae, 20g oysters, 15g Fritillariae thunbergii, 100g polished round-grained rice

Method: Cook Radix Scrophulariae, oysters, and Fritillariae thunbergii together in a casserole to extract the juice and remove the residue. Then add polished round-grained rice and cook into a thin porridge.

Zi Cai Yu Juan (Seaweed Fish Roll)

Ingredients: 250g fresh green fish meat, 4 eggs, 4 sheets of seaweed

Method: Pound the green fish meat into a paste, add Shaoxing wine, ginger juice, pepper powder, MSG, egg white, salt, and water starch, and mix well to form a fish paste. Beat the eggs, add salt and water starch, and use a flat-bottomed pan to make 4 egg pancakes. Place the egg pancakes on a cutting board, then add the fish paste and cover with a sheet of seaweed. Add another layer of fish paste, roll it into a cylinder shape, and seal both ends with water starch. Repeat this process and place the rolls in a steamer. Steam until cooked.

Xiang You San Si (Sesame Oil with Three Threads)

Ingredients: 100g soaked kelp, 120g mung bean sprouts, 100g dried tofu skin, 45g sesame oil, 30g sesame paste

Method: Rinse the soaked kelp, blanch the mung bean sprouts in boiling water until crisp-tender, drain the water, and combine with the kelp. Add sugar, MSG, sesame paste, sesame oil, and soy sauce, and mix well.

Effect: Clears heat, resolves phlegm, and promotes diuresis.
