Morphological Identification of Hu Sizi:

Hu Sizi is a double-fruit aggregate with a spherical shape and a diameter of 3 to 5 millimeters. It is pale yellow-brown to earthy brown in color, with a short stigma residue visible at the top, often split into two, and surrounded by five calyx lobes with persistent styles.

The surface is rough with 10 slightly apparent wavy ridges and 12 distinct vertical ridges arranged alternately. The base is bluntly rounded, sometimes with a small fruit stalk or fruit stalk scar.

The back of the small fruit is convex, and the central part of the ventral surface is concave, with three longitudinal ridges. The central ridge is straight, and the two sides are curved in an arc shape, sometimes with a pedicel.

The fruit is slightly hard. It has a fragrant smell, and when rubbed with hands, it emits a distinctive and strong aroma, with a slightly spicy taste. The best quality is characterized by plump, clean, and impurity-free seeds.
