Xueshanyizhihao: Functions, Toxicity, and Cultivation

  The Tibetan medicine "Xueshanyizhihao" has the functions of dispelling wind and dampness, and promoting blood circulation. It is used for anti-inflammatory and analgesic purposes, as well as for dispelling wind and dampness. However, "Xueshanyizhihao" is toxic and should not be used indiscriminately.

  Xueshanyizhihao is highly toxic, and toxic reactions occur within 0.5-3 hours after medication. The main symptoms include: mild sleepiness, burning sensation in the mouth, increased secretions;

  Severe symptoms include numbness, weakness, coldness, bloating, discomfort in the throat, nausea, vomiting, drooling, dizziness, palpitations, restlessness, abdominal pain, and urge to defecate;

  In severe cases, fainting, cold limbs, irregular heart rhythm, low blood pressure, difficulty breathing, seizures, and coma may occur. Severe cases can lead to death due to circulatory and respiratory failure.

  There have been cases of death due to poisoning within 2 hours of taking the medicine, so caution should be exercised. Rescue methods: According to general clinical experience, atropine, procaine amide, and quinidine are considered more effective antagonists. If used in a timely manner, they can be effective.

  In addition, folk remedies such as bamboo shoots, bamboo roots, bamboo leaves, coriander, windproof, tea leaves, and licorice are also used as detoxifying agents. Choose 2-3 of them, each weighing 5 grams, boil in water and take orally. Alternatively, choose one of lard, brown sugar, or honey to cook porridge and consume as needed.

  1. Biological characteristics

  Xueshanyizhihao commonly grows on the shady slopes of high mountain grasslands at an altitude of 3000-4000m. It is best cultivated in fertile and loose black humus soil.

  2. Cultivation techniques

  Propagation can be done through seeds or root buds. Seed propagation: Sow in early May, scatter the seeds, and keep the soil moist. The seedlings can be transplanted after 1 year. Root bud propagation: Cut the upper third of the root, and bury the root bud in the soil with row spacing of 21cm × 21cm in November or before snowfall, at a depth of 4-6cm.

  3. Field management

  Weeds should be regularly removed during the growth period. To promote good plant growth, organic fertilizer or wood ash can be applied once a year.
