Nv Lou Cai is a biennial or perennial herbaceous plant, 20-70cm tall. The entire plant is covered with short and soft hairs. The stem is erect and branches from the base. The leaves are opposite, with the upper leaves sessile and the lower leaves with short petioles;
The capsules are elliptical and 6-lobed at the apex, with the outer sepals almost the same length as the fruit. The seeds are numerous, small, dark brown, and have tubercular projections. The flowering period is from May to June, and the fruiting period is from July to August.
The entire plant is densely covered with short and soft hairs, 20-70cm long. The roots are slender and spindle-shaped, with lignification. The stem base branches extensively.
