【Treatment of Yellow Scabies with Coldberry】

①Treatment of lung (tuberculosis) hemoptysis: Take one or two fresh coldberry leaves (or five qian of dried leaves) and one liang of rock sugar. Stew with boiling water and take twice a day. (Properties and tastes are described in "Fujian Folk Herbal Medicine")

【Botanical Morphology of Coldberry】

Original form of coldberry (from "Compendium of Materia Medica"), also known as: lung-shaped grass, water drift sand, cold thorny bubble, mountain fireberry, large thorny bubble.

Evergreen creeping shrub. Stems often lie obliquely, about 30 centimeters high, with many hairs, without thorns or with occasional thorns; creeping branches can reach up to 2 meters in length.

Single leaves alternate, nearly round, with a diameter of 4 to 8 centimeters, with 5 shallow incisions and serrations on the edges, blunt at the apex, heart-shaped at the base, nearly hairless on the upper surface, and densely hairy on the lower surface and petioles.

Inflorescences are short, axillary, with 5 to 10 flowers, and the peduncle of the inflorescence is covered with gray-white hairs; flowers are white; calyx has 5 petals, covered with hairs on the outside. Aggregate fruit is nearly spherical and red. Fruit period is from October to November.

【Functions and Indications of Coldberry】

Clears heat and detoxifies; promotes blood circulation and relieves pain. Mainly used for damp-heat jaundice; postpartum fever; high fever in children; irregular menstruation; excessive leucorrhea; stomach pain; hemorrhoids swelling and pain; anal fistula.

Roots: Used for jaundice-type hepatitis, stomach pain, irregular menstruation, postpartum fever, and high fever in children, hemorrhoids.

Leaves: Used for pulmonary tuberculosis hemoptysis; externally used to treat bleeding wounds and yellow scabies.
