Breaking the Vicious Cycle: Traditional Remedies for Insomnia and Anxiety

January 13, 2024

Insomnia has become a common problem for modern people. Insomnia with frequent dreams is very painful, manifested as inability to fall asleep at night and feeling sluggish during the day. What are the dangers of insomnia? Let's take a look at some traditional Chinese medicine remedies with the help of the editor!

Insomnia usually occurs as a result of occasional sleeplessness. It is normal to experience insomnia occasionally, with one or two instances per month being a normal phenomenon. However, many people become excessively anxious and fearful when faced with these normal instances of insomnia, which leads them into a vicious cycle.

Many people with insomnia become anxious and fearful after experiencing occasional sleeplessness on the first day. They fear that they won't be able to function properly the next day at work or school, so they go to bed with anxiety. However, this anxiety affects the quality of sleep, leading to a vicious cycle of increased anxiety and inability to fall asleep. This cycle results in the worsening of insomnia, transitioning from occasional to chronic.

Therefore, the best treatment for insomnia is to break this vicious cycle by adjusting one's anxiety and fear caused by insomnia. One must have the correct mindset and learn to face insomnia calmly. Insomnia is not as terrible as you imagine; some people have had insomnia for twenty or more years and still live and work normally. It is also possible to engage in relaxation training to relieve anxiety.

When insomnia becomes severe, it is not recommended to use medication as it has certain side effects and dependence. Long-term use can also lead to drug resistance. Therefore, unless absolutely necessary, it is best not to take sleeping pills. Instead, one can choose to undergo psychological counseling to adjust their negative emotions and break the vicious cycle.
