Plant morphology
Liaodong oak, also known as: firewood tree, green oak, small-leaved green oak.
Deciduous tree, about 5-10 cm tall. Blunt at the tip. The flowers are monoecious, with male and female flowers on the same plant; the male flowers are in soft yellow inflorescences, born in leaf axils; the female flowers usually form three flowers in a single leaf axil, the cupule is shallowly cup-shaped, surrounding about 1/3 of the nut, with a diameter of 1.2-1.5 cm and a height of about 8 mm; the bracts are small, ovate, flattened: the nut is ovate to elongated, with a diameter of 1-1.3 cm, length of 1.7-1.9 cm, without hair; the hilum is slightly protruding.
Growth distribution
Grows in mountain slope forests. Distributed in Ningxia, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang and other places.
The root bark of this plant (Liaodong oak bark) and the bracts outside the fruit (Liaodong oak cupule) are also used as medicine, details are in separate articles.
Collection
Harvest in autumn.
[Properties] Bitter, slightly warm.
[Functions and Indications]
Tonifies the spleen and stops diarrhea, astringes and stops bleeding. Used for spleen deficiency diarrhea, bleeding hemorrhoids, prolapse of the anus.
[Dosage and Administration] Internally: grind into powder, 2-3 qian (6-9 grams).
[Properties and Channels Entered] Bitter, slightly warm. Enters the heart, spleen, and large intestine channels.
[Functions and Indications of Gangmu] Tonifies the spleen and stops diarrhea, astringes and stops bleeding.
Used for spleen deficiency diarrhea, bleeding hemorrhoids, prolapse of the anus.
[Dosage and Administration] Internally: grind into powder, 2-3 qian (6-9 grams).
[Prescription] Used for diarrhea, bleeding hemorrhoids, prolapse of the anus: 3 liang (90 grams) of Gangmu, roasted and ground into powder.
Take four qian (12 grams) each time, three times a day.
